Current opt-out methods for Build.com mail

  1. Catalog subscription

Go to Ferguson Home's Manage your catalog subscription page. Choose Unsubscribe. Put the first name, last name, and street address as printed on the catalog.

  2. Email request

Use the Email option on this page and ask Build.com to stop promotional postal mail. Include the full name and mailing address you want removed. Copy the template below, fill the bracketed fields, and attach a photo of the mailer if you have one.

If sending your opt-out request by email, use this helpful template for Build.com:

    Hello,

I'm writing to request that Build.com permanently remove my address from all direct mail lists, including your internal house list and any rented or third-party lists used to source your mailings.

The name and address to remove as they appear on a recently delivered unwanted mailer:

    [NAME]
    [ADDRESS]
    [CITY ST ZIP]

A few notes for your direct mail team:

    • I have never subscribed to marketing communications from Build.com.
    • Since I haven't opted in with you directly, the source is most likely a rented or co-op list. Please also flag this address with your list partners so it's suppressed at the source.

Please confirm in writing once the suppression is complete. I've attached an image of the mailer for reference.

    Thank you,
    [NAME]

Replace the bracketed fields ([NAME], [ADDRESS], [CITY ST ZIP]) before sending. Attach a photo of the mailer if you have one, and keep the reply for your records.

  3. PaperKarma app

Photograph the Build.com catalog. PaperKarma files the opt-out for you.

Once you opt out of this sender, you can opt out of 100,000+ other mailers in the same app.

  4. Phone

Call Build.com at +1-877-574-5572. Ask them to stop Ferguson Home and Build.com catalogs for the name and address on the mailer.

A phone request can take 5 to 10 minutes or longer, depending on the phone tree, hold time, and whether they offer a callback.

What to Expect After Opting Out

  • Allow 8 to 12 weeks. Print runs are scheduled in advance. A catalog already labeled can still arrive.
  • Orders are separate. Stopping catalogs does not stop a shipment, showroom bid, or return.
  • A later list add-back can start it again. A later purchase can put the address back on a catalog file.

Why Do You Receive Build.com Mail?

Build.com is the old consumer catalog and website for Ferguson Home. Ferguson Bath, Kitchen and Lighting Gallery and build.com now share one site for faucets, fixtures, lighting, appliances, and door hardware. Ferguson Home still mails a monthly print catalog and posts past issues online. Accounts from Build with Ferguson still work on fergusonhome.com. Showrooms stay open for homeowners and trade. Customer service for the old build.com site is the same Ferguson Home desk. The leftover mail is a catalog, not an order or showroom bid.

You get that mail if you ordered on build.com, asked for a catalog, or landed on a list they mail. A later purchase can put the address back on. The leftover catalog is often a faucet for a kitchen you already finished.

How to Prevent General Junk Mail Proactively

  1. DMAchoice

DMAchoice is the Association of National Advertisers' mail preference service. An $8 registration asks about 1,100 participating national companies to suppress your address from prospect promotional mail for 10 years. It does not cover local mailers, charity appeals, companies you already buy from, or occupant / current-resident saturation mail. Allow 90 days or longer.

NOTE: DMAchoice will not stop mail from Build.com as it is not an active member of the ANA.

  2. OptOutPrescreen

OptOutPrescreen is the official Consumer Credit Reporting Industry site. It lets you opt out of firm offers of credit and insurance for 5 years or permanently.

NOTE: OptOutPrescreen will not opt you out of Build.com mail. It only covers prescreened credit card and insurance offers.

  3. PaperKarma

For local and regional mailers, coupon packs, charity donation requests, and the large share of junk mail that DMAchoice does not cover, the PaperKarma app has the largest U.S. registry, with over 100,000 mailers on file.

Your Data Privacy Rights (CCPA & Beyond)

A promotional opt-out stops Build.com marketing mail. It does not always stop the underlying address from being shared. If you live in a state with an active consumer privacy law (California’s CCPA and several others), you can request access to or deletion of your personal information, and you can opt out of sale, share, or targeted advertising.

Go to Ferguson Home’s Support page, or call +1-877-574-5572, and ask for a deletion or do-not-share request, and to opt out of catalogs.

Frequently asked questions

How long until Build.com mail stops?

Allow 8 to 12 weeks. Print runs are scheduled in advance. If a catalog arrives during that window, it was likely already printed and labeled before your request was processed.

How do I stop Build.com mail for a previous resident?

Call Build.com at +1-877-574-5572 and include that person’s name and this address, or use the PaperKarma app to scan the mailer, mark the recipient as a previous resident, and submit the opt-out. Do not mark the person as deceased unless they are deceased.

Will Build.com mail stop if I move?

Not automatically. Marketing lists are tied to a specific name and address. A USPS forward can send a few more packets to the new address. Call again for the new address, or use the PaperKarma app there.
