Current opt-out methods for Mediacom mail

  1. PaperKarma app

Photograph the Mediacom mailer. PaperKarma files the opt-out for you.

Once you opt out of this sender, you can opt out of 100,000+ other mailers in the same app.

  2. Phone

Call Mediacom at +1-800-747-8021. Ask them to stop sending you promotional mail.

A phone request can take 5 to 10 minutes or longer, depending on the phone tree, hold time, and whether they offer a callback.

What to Expect After Opting Out

  • Allow 8 to 12 weeks. Print runs are scheduled in advance. Mail already printed can still arrive.
  • Bills are separate. Stopping promotional cable, internet, and phone offers does not stop bills, outage notices, or other account mail if you keep the service.

Why Do You Receive Mediacom Mail?

Mediacom is a cable, internet, and phone company Rocco B. Commisso founded in 1995 to wire smaller U.S. cities and towns. They still sell that smaller-market story and call Mediacom the nation’s 5th largest cable provider, with fiber work dated from 1996. The mail is the usual cable mix: TV, internet, and phone offers aimed at those towns, plus account mail if you already subscribe.

You get promotional offers if you live in a Mediacom town, already subscribe, or asked about service. You were the only broadband in town, and the upgrade packets kept coming. They talk about sharing names and addresses for non-cable purposes, then say they do not currently share that list for marketing and that you can opt out of future sharing.

How to Prevent General Junk Mail Proactively

  1. DMAchoice

DMAchoice is the Association of National Advertisers' mail preference service. An $8 registration asks about 1,100 participating national companies to suppress your address from prospect promotional mail for 10 years. It does not cover local mailers, charity appeals, companies you already buy from, or occupant / current-resident saturation mail. Allow 90 days or longer.

NOTE: DMAchoice will not stop mail from Mediacom as it is not an active member of the ANA.

  2. OptOutPrescreen

OptOutPrescreen is the official Consumer Credit Reporting Industry site. It lets you opt out of firm offers of credit and insurance for 5 years or permanently.

NOTE: OptOutPrescreen will not opt you out of Mediacom mail. It only covers prescreened credit card and insurance offers.

  3. PaperKarma

For local and regional mailers, coupon packs, charity donation requests, and the large share of junk mail that DMAchoice does not cover, the PaperKarma app has the largest U.S. registry, with over 100,000 mailers on file.

Your Data Privacy Rights (CCPA & Beyond)

A promotional opt-out stops Mediacom marketing mail. It does not always stop the underlying address from being shared. If you live in a state with an active consumer privacy law (California’s CCPA and several others), you can request access to or deletion of your personal information, and you can opt out of sale, share, or targeted advertising.

Call +1-800-747-8021 and ask for a deletion or do-not-share request, and to opt out of promotional mail. Their privacy policy lists a separate legal write-to in New York. That is legal, not the mailing-list path.

Frequently asked questions

How long until Mediacom mail stops?

Allow 8 to 12 weeks. Print runs are scheduled in advance. Bills and account mail can still arrive if you keep the service.

How do I stop Mediacom mail for a previous resident?

Call Mediacom at +1-800-747-8021 and ask them to remove that name from this address, or use the PaperKarma app to scan the mailer, mark the recipient as a previous resident, and submit the opt-out. Do not mark the person as deceased unless they are deceased.

Will Mediacom mail stop if I move?

Not automatically. Marketing lists are tied to a specific name and address. Call again for the new address, or use the PaperKarma app there.
