- Statements still come. Account statements, servicing mail, and legally required notices still go to that address if you keep an M&T account.
- A later product can add you back. Opening a new account or taking a new card can put the address on promotional lists again.
- Prescreened credit and insurance offers also opt out through OptOutPrescreen, the federal bureau opt-out. That path is not the same as M&T Bank’s own marketing list.
Why Do You Receive M&T Bank Mail?
M&T Bank started in Buffalo in 1856 as Manufacturers and Traders Bank, when two local businessmen wanted a lender that would actually finance the city’s factories. It is still the Buffalo bank. People who have never held an account there still know the name from M&T Bank Stadium and the Bills. Wilmington Trust is the wealth and trust brand they bought in 2011. In 2022 they bought People’s United, which is why a lot of New England checking customers woke up to M&T on statements and on offers.
You get promotional mail about cards and loans if you bank with M&T, if you used to bank with People’s United, or if they prospected you from a list. You opened the account because it was the local bank, or because the name on the door changed overnight. The offers keep treating you like you still need another product.
