Why Do You Receive OneMain Financial Mail?
OneMain is the personal-loan company for people banks often turn down. The name goes back to 1912, when Commercial Credit opened in Baltimore. The company you deal with now is the 2015 mix of Citi’s old CitiFinancial shops and Springleaf, the Evansville branch lender that used to be American General. Springleaf retired its consumer name. Some older envelopes and legal pages still say Springleaf. They still run more than 1,300 branches and say they work in 47 states.
You get offers if you borrowed, walked into a branch, or landed on a list they mail. Their privacy pages say they may use credit-report data for marketing, so a pre-approved envelope can show up even if you never sat down with them. You needed cash when a bank said no. The letters keep arriving after the loan is paid, or after you only asked.
