Current opt-out methods for Feed the Children mail
-
Mail preference form
Go to Feed the Children's opt-out page. Put the name and street address as printed on the mailer. Under Postal Mail Preferences, choose I do not want to receive postal mail, then submit.
-
Email request
Use the Email option on this page and ask Feed the Children to stop promotional postal mail. Include the full name and mailing address you want removed. Copy the template below, fill the bracketed fields, and attach a photo of the mailer if you have one.
If sending your opt-out request by email, use this helpful template for Feed the Children:
Hello, I'm writing to request that Feed the Children permanently remove my address from all direct mail lists, including your internal house list and any rented or third-party lists used to source your mailings. The name and address to remove as they appear on a recently delivered unwanted mailer: [NAME] [ADDRESS] [CITY ST ZIP] A few notes for your direct mail team: • I have never subscribed to marketing communications from Feed the Children. • This address is registered with the National Do Not Mail list (DMAchoice), so standard list hygiene should already be suppressing it. • Since I haven't opted in with you directly, the source is most likely a rented or co-op list. Please also flag this address with your list partners so it's suppressed at the source. Please confirm in writing once the suppression is complete. I've attached an image of the mailer for reference. Thank you, [NAME]
Replace the bracketed fields ([NAME], [ADDRESS], [CITY ST ZIP]) before sending. Attach a photo of the mailer if you have one, and keep the reply for your records.

PaperKarma app

-
Phone
Call Feed the Children at +1-800-627-4556. Ask them to stop fundraising and other promotional mail for the name and address on the mailer.
A phone request can take 5 to 10 minutes or longer, depending on the phone tree, hold time, and whether they offer a callback.
What to Expect After Opting Out
- Allow 8 to 12 weeks. Print runs are scheduled in advance. An appeal already labeled can still arrive.
- Receipts are separate. Stopping fundraising mail does not stop a donation receipt, tax statement, or child-sponsorship account mail.
- Exchanged lists are a different charity. A mailer from another nonprofit that received the address through a cooperative is a separate request.
Why Do You Receive Feed the Children Mail?
Feed the Children, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that started in 1979. Headquarters sit in Oklahoma City. They help children and families in nearly every U.S. state and in eight countries, and they distributed about 75.1 million pounds of food and resources in FY25. The leftover mail is a fundraising appeal, not a receipt for a gift you already made.
They say they do not sell or rent the mailing list, but they exchange portions of donor lists with select nonprofits through cooperatives, and they may buy data from other sources. You get this mail if you gave, or if they bought or exchanged the name. The leftover appeal is often a child photo after you already gave once. Use the name and address exactly as printed on the mailer.
How to Prevent General Junk Mail Proactively
-
DMAchoice
DMAchoice is the Association of National Advertisers' mail preference service. An $8 registration asks about 1,100 participating national companies to suppress your address from prospect promotional mail for 10 years. It does not cover local mailers, charity appeals, companies you already buy from, or occupant / current-resident saturation mail. Allow 90 days or longer.
-
OptOutPrescreen
OptOutPrescreen is the official Consumer Credit Reporting Industry site. It lets you opt out of firm offers of credit and insurance for 5 years or permanently.
NOTE: OptOutPrescreen will not opt you out of Feed the Children mail. It only covers prescreened credit card and insurance offers.
-
PaperKarma
For local and regional mailers, coupon packs, charity donation requests, and the large share of junk mail that DMAchoice does not cover, the PaperKarma app has the largest U.S. registry, with over 100,000 mailers on file.
Your Data Privacy Rights (CCPA & Beyond)
A promotional opt-out stops Feed the Children marketing mail. It does not always stop the underlying address from being shared. If you live in a state with an active consumer privacy law (California’s CCPA and several others), you can request access to or deletion of your personal information, and you can opt out of sale, share, or targeted advertising.
Go to the opt-out page, or call +1-800-627-4556, and ask for a deletion or do-not-share request, and to opt out of fundraising mail.
Frequently asked questions
How long until Feed the Children mail stops?
Allow 8 to 12 weeks. Print runs are scheduled in advance. If an appeal arrives during that window, it was likely already printed and labeled before your request was processed. Receipts and sponsorship account mail can still arrive.
How do I stop Feed the Children mail for a previous resident?
Go to Feed the Children's opt-out page and include that person’s name and this address, or call +1-800-627-4556, or use the PaperKarma app to scan the mailer, mark the recipient as a previous resident, and submit the opt-out. Do not mark the person as deceased unless they are deceased.
Will Feed the Children mail stop if I move?
Not automatically. Marketing lists are tied to a specific name and address. A USPS forward can send a few more appeals to the new address. Submit a new opt-out for the new address, or use the PaperKarma app there.
