Current opt-out methods for Tide mail
-
PaperKarma app
Photograph the Tide mailer. PaperKarma files the opt-out for you.
Once you opt out of this sender, you can opt out of 100,000+ other mailers in the same app.
-
Phone
Call Tide at +1-800-879-8433. Ask them to stop postal marketing and coupon packs for the name and address on the mailer.
A phone request can take 5 to 10 minutes or longer, depending on the phone tree, hold time, and whether they offer a callback.
What to Expect After Opting Out
- Allow 8 to 12 weeks. Print runs are scheduled in advance. A coupon pack already labeled can still arrive.
- Rewards and orders are separate. Stopping promotional mail does not stop a Tide Rewards notice or a shipment on an order you already placed.
- A later list add-back can start it again. A later purchase or coupon redeem can put the address back on a file.
Why Do You Receive Tide Mail?
Tide is Procter & Gamble’s laundry detergent and fabric-care brand. The U.S. site sits in the P&G Family next to Downy, Bounce, and Mr. Clean. They sell liquid, powder, and pacs, including Tide POWER PODS and Tide evo, a 6x concentrated formula they pitch as less work and a better clean than pretreating with Tide Simply. BrandSpark has ranked Tide as consumers’ #1 trusted laundry detergent. Tide has also signed a Space Act Agreement with NASA. The leftover mail is a coupon pack or a product offer, not a jug you already bought.
You get that mail if you bought Tide, joined Tide Rewards, redeemed a coupon, or landed on a list they mail. The leftover packet is often a coupon for a scent you already have under the sink.
How to Prevent General Junk Mail Proactively
-
DMAchoice
DMAchoice is the Association of National Advertisers' mail preference service. An $8 registration asks about 1,100 participating national companies to suppress your address from prospect promotional mail for 10 years. It does not cover local mailers, charity appeals, companies you already buy from, or occupant / current-resident saturation mail. Allow 90 days or longer.
NOTE: DMAchoice will not stop mail from Tide as it is not an active member of the ANA.
-
OptOutPrescreen
OptOutPrescreen is the official Consumer Credit Reporting Industry site. It lets you opt out of firm offers of credit and insurance for 5 years or permanently.
NOTE: OptOutPrescreen will not opt you out of Tide mail. It only covers prescreened credit card and insurance offers.
-
PaperKarma
For local and regional mailers, coupon packs, charity donation requests, and the large share of junk mail that DMAchoice does not cover, the PaperKarma app has the largest U.S. registry, with over 100,000 mailers on file.
Your Data Privacy Rights (CCPA & Beyond)
A promotional opt-out stops Tide marketing mail. It does not always stop the underlying address from being shared. If you live in a state with an active consumer privacy law (California’s CCPA and several others), you can request access to or deletion of your personal information, and you can opt out of sale, share, or targeted advertising.
Go to Procter & Gamble’s Privacy Policy page, or call +1-800-879-8433, and ask for a deletion or do-not-share request, and to opt out of postal marketing.
Frequently asked questions
How long until Tide mail stops?
Allow 8 to 12 weeks. Print runs are scheduled in advance. If a coupon pack arrives during that window, it was likely already printed and labeled before your request was processed.
How do I stop Tide mail for a previous resident?
Call Tide at +1-800-879-8433 and include that person’s name and this address, or use the PaperKarma app to scan the mailer, mark the recipient as a previous resident, and submit the opt-out. Do not mark the person as deceased unless they are deceased.
Will Tide mail stop if I move?
Not automatically. Marketing lists are tied to a specific name and address. A USPS forward can send a few more packets to the new address. Call again for the new address, or use the PaperKarma app there.
Stop junk mail from Tide and everyone else.
Download the PaperKarma app free. Snap photos of unwanted mail: Tide, catalogs, credit offers, charities, and more. We contact senders for you.
